According to the latest MetLife Survey of the American Teacher, 75% of public school principals believe their jobs have become too complex, 50% feel under great stress several days a week, and job satisfaction is declining. To address these issues we’re joined by Mark Terry, president of the NAESP and a veteran school leader, who is currently the principal of Eubanks Intermediate School in Southlake, Texas. While acknowledging that we can’t take away all the stress or complexity of the principalship, Terry offers some great advice on the best ways that superintendents, district administrators and principals themselves can create a more positive situation.

Mark Terry is the elected president of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), which represents pre-K-8 educators in the United States, Canada, and overseas. Terry has been an educator and school leader for over three decades, serving at all levels (elementary, middle, and high schools) as well as in rural, urban, and suburban districts with varying levels of socio-economic status.
